The Director of the DCC reports directly to the Board of Corrections and is the agency's chief executive administrative and fiscal officer and is responsible for the agency's philosophy, mission and operations.
The DCC operations (managed by a chief deputy and three deputy directors) include residential, probation and parole services. Aside from the deputies, the director supervises a small staff of professionals in such areas as legal affairs, internal affairs, employee drug testing, grievances, public relations and interstate compact.

The Internal Affairs Administrator conducts Internal Investigations, Background Investigations, assist/coordinates with Arkansas State Police on investigations, administers the Law Enforcement Officer Certification process, performs American Correctional Association audits of Probation and Parole operations and supervises the agency Employee Drug Testing Program.

The Public Relations staff works closely with the Director to advise on public affairs issues that affect the agency. Serving as the liaison between the public and the agency, the Officer is responsible for developing and designing presentations for the agency, as well as creating the agency public affairs program and publishing the agency reports and newsletters. Represents the agency in claims filed with the Claims Commission, Grievance Hearings and others, both at the internal and State level. He monitors lawsuits filed by offenders and employees, providing legal review of agency policies, contracts, leases and other legal documents, as well as providing training/advice regarding legal issues that have a potential impact on the agency.
